A Change in Course, Under Pressure + The Best 🍌 Bread

It's Not Just the Pelvis

If there was one lesson that 2023 is screaming at me, it’s this.

Keep looking at the ribcage. Stop focusing only on the pelvis.

Many of my clients struggle to get into their left side… MYSELF included. Given that we are asymmetrical from the inside out… getting left and staying left requires several things, which depend on the person standing in front of you.

My biggest mistake in getting left was over-rotating my pelvis to the left and taking my right torso along for the ride.

By simply keeping the right chest wall OPEN ( while guiding left rib back + in) on hinges/ lunges/ squats/step-ups, YOU MAY FINALLY FIND YOUR 🍑 + abs.

Check out this video for a simple tweak that may just be a game-changer for you ❤️

Stop Waiting to Exhale

Growing humans majorly impact the way our bodies manage pressure. Most of the women I work with don’t just bounce back, myself included.

Having young kids, living through a pandemic, work stress, being in pain, go-go-going... these are all reasons we could be living in a state of fight or flight.

This is WHY it is so important to take the time to breathe. I know you might think it’s boring, but it’s the foundation that everything else builds on.

Here is a walkout as an example.

Everything becomes a core exercise when you are breathing well!

More efficient exercise means better results in less time. WIN-WIN!

Earn the right to do the more complicated stuff by consistently breathing and fine-tuning your basic movements.

Start to pay attention instead of just rushing through the motions 🔥

Best Paleo Banana Bread

I go bananas for this banana bread. It's easily one of my favorite treats, and of course, the kids love it too 🤗

Ingredients:

  • 2 large overripe bananas about 1 cup, mashed
  • ¼ cup coconut oil
  • ¼ cup creamy almond butter
  • 2 TBSpure maple syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs lightly beaten
  • ¼ cup of coconut flour
  • ¼ cup almond flour
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp sea salt
  • ½ tsp cinnamon

Instructions:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line an 8x4” baking pan (you can use a 9x5” pan but your loaf will be thinner and baking time will be less) with parchment paper and grease. Set aside.
  • In a small bowl combine coconut flour, almond flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and cinnamon). Set aside.
  • In a large, glass mixing bowl melt together coconut oil and almond butter (for about 1 minute on high), stir until combined.
  • Add mashed banana, maple syrup and vanilla extract and mix.
  • Add eggs and stir until smooth.
  • Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and mix until completely combined.
  • Gently mix in chocolate chips.
  • Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 30-40 minutes, until top is set and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Let cool in the pan for 5 minutes before gently removing the loaf from the pan to a wire rack to cool.

Enjoy! 🍌

This past week I sent my 7 and 9 year old off on their first day of 2nd and 4th grade. The bus came back, they got off safely, and I was able to exhale a little. Not every mom was that fortunate. It’s no wonder moms are anxious—it’s hard NOT to carry unnecessary tension in our bodies! If I could teach all women ONE thing when it comes to strength training and their pelvic floor, it would be how to hinge well. Why? Because when you learn to hinge… You protect your low back (instead of...

If you’ve ever thought… “Why does my back ache after squats?” “Why am I leaking when I deadlift heavy?” “Why does my core still feel weak even though I’m strong?” The missing link isn’t MORE core exercises. It’s HOW you’re breathing and how your ribcage + pelvis are stacked when you move. Here’s the breakdown (and I’ve got 3 short videos for you below to SHOW you what I mean): 1️⃣ Your ribcage + pelvis have to STACK. If they’re out of alignment, your diaphragm can’t do its job and your core +...

A couple weeks ago, I joined my good friend Jordan Syatt on his podcast. And the response has been incredible. Women from all over have been writing in to share their stories: “I almost cried a couple times. I felt seen.” “I finally feel encouraged that I can improve things without having surgery.” “Listening to you made what I am experiencing feel less humiliating.” “I’ve been trying to keep up with everyone—and that’s exactly what got me here.” “I have been having so much trouble with...
